Ma Sarada Bhavan (Yatri Nivas)
Belur Math also receives devotees who wish to spend three or four days in this holy atmosphere. Though we have a few guest houses to accommodate them, a keen need has arisen for a new building to meet the increasing demand from devotees. To fulfil this need we have undertaken the construction of Ma Sarada Bhavan (Yatri Nivas).

Dear Friends and Devotees,
Belur Math is an important place of pilgrimage attracting devotees from all over the world. Swami Vivekananda consecrated the Belur Math grounds in 1898 by worshipping the sacred relics of his master Sri Ramakrishna. On that occasion, he uttered these prophetic words about Belur Math: “The blazing light of universal harmony that will emanate from here will flood the whole world”. In the course of the next few decades, a magnificent temple dedicated to Sri Ramakrishna, and three smaller temples dedicated to Holy Mother Sarada Devi, Swami Vivekananda and Swami Brahmananda came up here. Swami Vivekananda’s Room where he spent his last days resonates with his continuing presence even today. Another attraction is the museum where several articles used by Sri Ramakrishna, Sri Sarada Devi, Swami Vivekananda and other disciples of Sri Ramakrishna are respectfully preserved. Belur Math is also home to the headquarters of the worldwide Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission and is the hub of a worldwide spiritual movement known as the Ramakrishna Movement. Sprawling over forty acres of land on the western bank of the Hooghly (Ganga), in Howrah district, Belur Math is well-known for its architectural elegance, clean environs, sacred associations and its spiritual atmosphere. It is no surprise therefore that it attracts thousands of devotees of all religions throughout the year. On special occasions such as the birthdays of Sri Ramakrishna, Holy Mother Sarada Devi and Swami Vivekananda, Durga Puja and other festivals, about a lakh people visit Belur Math.
Such an iconic place of pilgrimage should necessarily be fully equipped with amenities for devotees and visitors. In recent times, we have created many facilities, including a state-of-the-art auditorium and a reception centre, to improve the overall experience of the visitors.
This six-storey building is coming up very close to the main entrance of Belur Math making it convenient for devotees to visit the temples. Besides, the rooms for devotees and guests, it has a spacious dining hall, a parking lot and other facilities. Revered Swami Smarananandaji Maharaj, President of Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission, laid the foundation stone for the building on 14 December 2022.
The total estimated cost of the project is Rs. 10.50 crore. Presently, the structural work is nearing completion. Brickwork and plastering will be started soon. In order to complete this building we depend, as we do for all our projects, on donations from our generous devotees and well-wishers. We, therefore, earnestly request you to come forward and donate towards the construction of Ma Sarada Bhavan.
Yours in the service,
Swami Suvirananda
