Construction of School Building and
Sadhu Nivas at Gaya ji
The Ramakrishna Order is fulfilling its long-held desire to establish a center near Gaya Ji, a significant pilgrimage site. With the partial financial support of a devotee, they have acquired a 10-acre plot of land about 30 km southwest of the Sri Vishnu Temple. The new center is planned to not only serve as a spiritual hub but also to empower the local community through education and spiritual teachings.

Dear Friends,
Hearty greetings from the Headquarters of Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission, Belur Math!
We reach out to you today regarding a new centre of the Ramakrishna Math to be started at Gaya Ji. This sacred and age-old pilgrimage place holds a profound and intimate connection with the very origins of the Ramakrishna Movement. The event of Sri Ramakrishna's advent began with his father Kshudiram Chattopadhyaya's pilgrimage to Gaya Ji. During this pilgrimage, Kshudiram experienced a blessed dream in which the Supreme Lord, in the form of Sri Gadādhara (Vişnu or Nārāyana), revealed that He would be born as Kshudiram's son. Just a few months after Kshudiram's return from Gaya Ji, Sri Ramakrishna was born. Kshudiram named him Gadādhara, a name given in fulfilment of the divine dream he had received at Gaya Ji.
The city of Gaya holds unique significance as a pilgrimage destination for Hindus, Buddhists and Jains, serving as a powerful symbol of the religious harmony that Sri Ramakrishna lived and taught. In close proximity lies the renowned Nalanda University (near Rajgir). Further, Gaya Ji is designated as an Aspirational District by the National Institution for Transforming India (NITI Aayog), a nodal agency of the Government of India focused on the overall development and improvement of living standards of the Indian citizens. Thus, the government is focusing on improving the performance across various sectors like health, nutrition, education, agriculture, water resources, financial inclusion, and infrastructure there.
It has long been a cherished aspiration to establish a centre of the Ramakrishna Order in or near Gaya Ji, a sacred pilgrimage site intimately connected with the origins of Sri Ramakrishna's advent. This wish is now on the path to fulfilment, with the recent acquisition of a 10-acre plot of land there, located 30 km south-west of Sri Vishnu Temple in Gaya Ji. The acquisition was made possible with partial financial assistance from a generous devotee.
The establishment of this centre and its proposed educational initiatives are also hoped to contribute to the empowerment of the local populace through knowledge and spiritual values. To begin with, the proposed Ashrama in Gaya Ji will have the following structures on the land recently acquired by us:
Structure | Estimated Cost | |
1 | Primary School Building (two-storey) | Rs. 2,75,00,000 |
2 | Teachers'-cum-Staff Quarters (two-storey) | Rs. 1,90,00,000 |
3 | Toilet Block (single-storey) | Rs. 25.00,000 |
4 | Boundary Wall | Rs. 1.00,00,000 |
Total | Rs. 5,90,00,000 |
The project's total estimated cost is about Rs 5.90 crore. The drawings for the above structures are given overleaf. This is the minimum infrastructure needed to start a school for the underprivileged children there. Other structures may be built later on to accommodate more activities.
We request you to extend financial support to this project to the fullest extent. Should you need any other information or clarification, please do not hesitate to contact us. The cheque/draft may be drawn in favour of 'Ramakrishna Math, Belur'. Should you require bank details for an online donation, do let us know.
With best regards,
Yours faithfully,
Swami Suvirananda
